Want to watch more than 40 skilled anglers tie trout flies, warmwater flies, saltwater flies—for free?

The 2017 Fly Tyers Weekend is this Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 4-5, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Little River Outfitters in Townsend.

The tying team includes several members and friends of the Clinch River Chapter: Clayton Gist, David Harrell, Shawn Madison, Melissa Maples-Harrell and Ken McClain.

Other notable names include Walter Babb from Sweetwater, eminent fly fishing teacher and bamboo rod builder; Mike Bryant from Townsend, chair of the Tennessee Council of Trout Unlimited; 15-year-old Tradd Little from Greenville, SC, who ties on pro teams and has appeared on many fly fishing shows; Alan McGee, author of “Tying & Fishing Soft-Hackled Nymphs”; and Josh Williams of Roanoke, VA, a professional fly tyer and Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing member who ties with one hand.

The tying event will be in a 40- by 80-foot tent behind the Little River Outfitters shop (heaters will be running if needed). Food will be sold by volunteers from Casting for Recovery, benefiting their East Tennessee fly fishing retreat for women with breast cancer.
